Founded in 1976, U.S. Robotics initially focused on modems, achieving a dominant market share in the 1980s. U.S. Robotics was acquired by 3Com in 1997. Although the company itself ceased to exist, its legacy lived on through the Palm Computing platform, which continued to innovate and evolve under 3Com's ownership.
